What were the talking points in MI vs CSK, IPL 2026 match 33?

Both teams entered the contest at the Wankhede Stadium languishing in the bottom half of the table and desperate for a win. MI were in trouble early in their chase, slipping to 11-3 in 2.3 overs. Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav then put on 73 for the fourth wicket, but that was as good as it got; they were eventually bowled out for 104. There was a moment of controversy midway through the innings as MI brought Shardul Thakur in for Mitchell Santner as a concussion substitute, despite the New Zealand international seemingly suffering a shoulder injury. But replays showed that during the incident that caused the injury, he had also hurt his neck.
