The three-match ODI series between Ireland and the West Indies ended in a 1-1 draw, with one match abandoned due to rain. Here’s how the series results have affected the standings in the latest ICC men's ODI team rankings.
Ireland started the series opener with a 124-run win, their biggest over Full Member team in ODIs. The win was set up by former captain Andy Balbarnie’s 112 while opening the innings, propelling the hosts to 303-6. Then Barry McCarthy’s 4-32 off 7.1 overs folded West Indies for 179.
The tourists fought back in the second match as Keacy Carty smashed 102, supported by Matthew Forde’s joint-fastest ODI fifty (off just 16 balls), powering the West Indies to 352-8. However, the rain gods had other plans – the match was called off without a ball bowled in the second innings.
A loss and a washout meant the West Indies entered the third and final match in a must-win scenario. Carty once again stepped up, smashing 170, the joint-sixth-highest score for the West Indies in men's ODIs. The tourists posted 385-7, their second-highest ODI total. Jayden Seales then claimed 3-26 off just 5.5 overs, skittling Ireland for 165 and levelling the series 1-1.
