The first week of the 2025 One-Day Cup has ended, and here’s how players from India and Pakistan have fared in the tournament thus far.

The One-Day Cup is a 50-over limited-overs domestic cricket competition in England that began in 2014. The 2025 edition began last week, with several overseas players taking part alongside the local players.

Here’s how the cricketers from India and Pakistan have fared:

Tilak Varma (Hampshire)

54 runs @ 27, HS: 54

Tilak played four games in the County Championship before the One-Day Cup and made a brilliant start in his debut season. He got a hundred on debut and followed it up with scores of 56, 47 and 112. However, his One-Day Cup debut was less sensational: he was dismissed for a three-ball duck, falling to Ned Leonard.

Tilak, who has a List A average of 46.90, turned it around in Hampshire’s second game, against Essex. Walking out at No.3 in a chase of 286, he scored a 52-ball 54, hitting five fours and two sixes in the match-winning knock. He was dismissed in the 32nd over, but gave his team a solid foundation.

Imam-ul-Haq (Yorkshire)

214 runs @ 107, HS: 159

Imam replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad in Yorkshire’s squad after the latter had to pull out due to personal reasons. A last-minute call-up, Imam is currently the second-highest run-scorer in the competition, with one fifty and a career-best 159.

In the first game, against Warwickshire, Imam led a chase of 138. At 72-4, they were in a spot of bother, but Imam held the innings together with a patient 55 off 83. By the time he was dismissed, Yorkshire needed just 10 for a win. In the second game, Imam brought up his 11th List A ton in 95 deliveries, going on to make 159 in 130 balls with two sixes and 20 fours.

Shan Masood (Leicestershire)

62 runs @ 31, HS: 35

Masood played 13 games in the T20 Blast before the One-Day Cup, making 260 runs at a strike rate of 131. He started the 50-over competition with a quickfire 21-ball 27, which contained two sixes and as many fours against Surrey.

Against Gloucestershire, he walked in after his side collapsed to 22-3 within 4.4 overs. The Pakistan Test skipper made only 35 in 51, but it helped steady the ship. He put on 54 runs with skipper Peter Handscomb, who went on to make a hundred.

Yuzvendra Chahal (Northamptonshire)

3 wickets @ 41, BBI: 2-54

Leg-spinner Chahal headed into the One-Day Cup with an eight-wicket match haul against Derbyshire in the County Championship. However, he was unable to curtail the runs against Yorkshire, where he conceded 69 runs in 10 overs. In the clash where Imam made 159 and Yorkshire scored 374-5, Chahal was one of four bowlers from the side who conceded more than 6.50 runs an over.

Against Warwickshire, Chahal was one of three bowlers from the side with two wickets, but the headlines belonged to the opposition’s Tazeem Chaudry Ali, the under-19 leggie, who picked up 5-43.
