Team news
Islamabad lost their opening game of the season to the Multan Sultans, struggling somewhat to defend what was an under-par 171. Mark Chapman was the standout with the bat, while youngster Sameer Minhas also looked promising. Salman Mirza and Shadab Khan both had off days with the ball, which they will expect to be corrected here against Quetta. IU do have a point on the board though, after their game against Peshawar Zalmi was washed out.

Quetta also started with a loss, falling short in a chase of 182 where they looked on course even beyond the halfway stage of the second innings. But they put that disappointment to one side two days later with a convincing win over Hyderabad Kingsmen that included half-centuries for Shamyl Hussain and Hassan Nawaz.

Karachi sit second in the table after two wins out of two, over Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars. The former saw Hasan Ali star with 4-27 as they clawed back a win with the ball after Quetta looked good to chase down 182. Their second win was closer, as Lahore did well to make a chase of 129 difficult. But a five-run penalty copped by the bowling side for ball-tampering at the back end of the chase certainly made things easier.
Rawalpindiz's first-ever PSL game saw them rack up an impressive 214-4, but Peshawar Zalmi chased the score down with five balls to spare. Their bowling was as concerning as the batting was encouraging. Fast bowler Naseem Shah went for 51 runs in four wicketless overs and then copped a fine for a social media post criticising the Punjab chief minister.
