Ranji Trophy round 3 day 3

Round three of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy began on November 1; here's a round-up of all the action from day three.

Elite Group A

In Cuttack, Andhra's bowlers made light work of Odisha, bowling them out for 151 and enforcing the follow-on. Odisha fared much better second time around, reaching 190-2 by stumps after half-centuries from Gaurav Choudhary and Sandeep Pattanaik.

Jharkhand's Anukul Roy took 8-55 to skittle Nagaland for 154. Following on, they reached 104-5 by the end of day three. Vidarbha continued to dominate Tamil Nadu, as Yash Rathod scored a ninth first-class ton and overtook Vijay Hazare and Vinod Kambli on an elite all-time list.

For the third day in a row, no play was possible between Baroda and Uttar Pradesh in Vadodara.

Scores at stumps, day three:

  • Andhra 475-7 d (Shaik Rasheed 140*, Sambit Baral 2-85) v Odisha 151 (Sandeep Pattanaik 58, Tripurana Vijay 3-14) & 190-2 (Gaurav Choudhary 79*, Saurabh Kumar 1-36). Odisha trail by 134 runs.
  • Jharkhand 510-8 d (Shikhar Mohan 207, Rongsen Jonathan 3-129) v Nagaland 154 (Chetan Bist 46*, Anukul Roy 8-55) & 104-5 (Jonathan Rongsen 50, Manishi 3-41). Nagaland trail by 252 runs.
  • Tamil Nadu 291 (Pradosh Ranjan Paul 113, Nachiket Bhute 5-65) & 6-0 v Vidarbha 501 (Yash Rathod 133, R Sai Kishore 5-150). Tamil Nadu trail by 204 runs.
  • Baroda v Uttar Pradesh: No play possible on days one, two and three.

Elite Group B

Goa openers Suyash Prabhudessai (149) and Manthan Kuthkar (86) made merry against Punjab, putting on 222 for the first wicket. Abhinav Tejrana, who made a double-century on debut earlier this season, then helped himself to a hundred as Goa took the first-innings lead. Tejrana's first-class scores now read 205, 18, 73* and 131.

Up against Karnatak's stiff 586-5, Kerala showed little resistance as Baba Aparajith (88) was the only player to cross 50. They also lost fast bowler Nedumankuzhy Basil to a concussion, with Eden Apple Tom replacing him. For Karnataka, Vidwath Kaverappa took 4-42.

Madhya Pradesh declared at 384-8 overnight, but Chandigarh have the first-innings lead in sight at stumps on day three. Rain continued to play spoilsport in Nashik, as only 27 more overs were possible between Saurashtra and Maharashtra.

  • Punjab 325 (Uday Saharan 126, Deepraj Gaonkar 3-34) v Goa 439-3 (Suyash Prabhudessai 149, Ayush Goyal 1-65). Goa lead by 114 runs.
  • Madhya Pradesh 384-8 (Harpreet Singh 116, Jagjit Singh 5-69) v Chandigarh 236-4 (Ankit Kaushik 59*, Aryan Pandey 2-41). Chandigarh trail by 148 runs.
  • Karnataka 586-5d (Karun Nair 233, N Basil 2-101) v Kerala 238 (Baba Aparajith 88, Vidwath Kaverappa 4-42) & 10-0. Kerala trail by 338 runs.
  • Saurashtra 155-1 (Jay Gohil 70*, Mukesh Choudhary 1-46) v Maharashtra.

Elite Group C

Tripura quickly took the last Bengal wicket before going in to bat on day three. They were reduced to 35-4 and 93-6 before Hanuma Vihari scored a century, and put on 107 with Vijay Shankar. Vihari and skipper Manishankar Murasingh saw their side to stumps. India Test quick Mohammed Shami went wicketless as his younger brother, Mohammed Kaif, took 4-53.

Railways eventually posted 224 against Assam, Bhargav Merai making 73 not out. Assam were well-placed at stumps, Sarupam Purkayastha's 70 taking them to 99-1.

After conceding a 34-run lead, Services roared back to skittle Chandigarh for 88, Arjun Sharma starring with 6-41. In pursuit of 123, however, they were 71-5 by stumps. Yashvardhan Dalal's half-century helped Haryana take the lead against Gujarat, who did not fare well in their second go. They were 113-8 on day three, leading by only 37.

  • Bengal 336 (Sudip Kumar Gharami 108, Rana Dutta 3-76) v Tripura 273-7 (Hanuma Vihari 121*, Mohammed Kaif 4-53). Tripura trail by 63 runs.
  • Railways 224 (Bhargav Merai 73*, Ayushman Malakar 3-42) v Assam 99-1 (Sarupam Purkayastha 70*, Himanshu Sangwan 1-22). Assam trail by 125 runs.
  • Uttarakhand 257 (Jagadeesha Suchith 67, Vikas Yadav 5-53) & 88 (Kunal Chandela 26, Arjun Sharma 6-41) v Services 223 (Mohit Ahlawat 75, Mayank Mishra 4-86) & 71-5 (Shivam Kumar 17, Mayank Mishra 3-33). Services need 52 runs to win.
  • Gujarat 163 (Kshitij Patel 50, Nikhil Kashyap 3-34) & 113-8 (Urvil Patel 44, Nikhil Kashyap 3-55) v Haryana 239 (Yashvardhan Dalal 55*, Siddharth Desai 4-43). Gujarat lead by 37 runs.

Elite Group D

Ashutosh Singh struck 90 for Chhattisgarh vs Jammu & Kashmir, even as his side made slow progress through the day. Captain Amandeep Khare remained unbeaten on 73 by stumps.

Puducherry took the first-innings lead against Delhi, Ajay Rohera leading the way with 151. Delhi began their second innings, reaching 76-0 at the end of the day

Deepak Hooda scored a magnificent 248 for Rajasthan against Mumbai, before becoming Yashasvi Jaiswal's maiden first-class victim. Their lead stretched over 350 runs, before Mumbai began batting again. Jaiswal scored his second half-century of the match by stumps.

Hyderabad ended up conceding a 40-run lead to Himachal Pradesh, despite Chama Milind's fighting 98. They did manage to bowl Himachal out again, for 303, giving them a victory target of 344. Eight of those runs came today.

  • Jammu & Kashmir 394 (Shubham Khajuria 190, Ravi Kiran 7-82) v Chhattisgarh 297-6 (Ashutosh Singh 90, Vanshaj Sharma 2-55). Chhattisgarh trail by 97 runs.
  • Delhi 294 (Sanat Sangwan 99, Sagar Udeshi 4-36) & 76-0 (Arpit Rana 40*, Jayant Yadav 0-13) v Puducherry 481 (Ajay Rohera 151, Sumit Mathur 3-77). Delhi trail by 111 runs.
  • Mumbai 254 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 67, Kukna Ajay Singh 4-66) & 89-0 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 56*, Rahul Chahar 0-6) v Rajasthan 617-6d (Deepak Hooda 248, Tushar Deshpande 2-67). Mumbai trail by 274 runs.
  • Himachal Pradesh 318 (Akash Vashisht 118, Tanay Thyagarajan 4-80) & 303 (Akash Vashisht 101*, Chama Milind 3-67) v Hyderabad 278 (Chama Milind 98, Vaibhav Arora 4-51) & 8-0. Hyderabad need 336 runs to win.

Plate Group

Arunachal Pradesh were made to follow on after being bowled out for 247 in response to Manipur's 505-3.

Bihar-Meghalaya finally got underway on day three in Patna, with the visitors getting to 235-4 in 82 overs. Armaan Jaffer made a career-best 178 for Mizoram, helping his side to 424. Sikkim had a long way to go by the end of the day.

  • Meghalaya 235-4 (Ajay Duhan 129, Amod Yadav 2-51) v Bihar.
  • Mizoram 424 (Arman Jaffer 178, Kranthi Kumar 4-75) v Sikkim 158-3 (Amit Rajera 47*, Lalrempuia 2-54). Sikkim trail by 266 runs.
