Campbell Kellaway put his hand up as a potential Australia opener with a century in the latest round of the Sheffield Shield on Thursday (October 30).
Campbell Kellaway scores third first-class ton against Tasmania
At the Junction Oval in Melbourne, Victoria faced off against Tasmania. The hosts were 35-1 at the end of play on day two (October 29) after taking a 24-run first innings lead.
Kellaway lost the company of Mitchell Perry early on day three, the latter dismissed for five off 37 balls. Peter Handscomb and Oliver Peake then went for five and 15 respectively, leaving Victoria at 91-4.
Marcus Harris then joined Kellaway, and the two set about repairing the innings. During a fifth-wicket stand worth 195 runs, Kellaway made his way to a third first-class century, two days before his 23rd birthday.
The left-handed Kellaway was Victoria's top scorer in the 2024/25 Sheffield Shield, with 738 runs at 41. He is one of Australia's options to partner Usman Khawaja at the top of the order, although Matt Renshaw, Sam Konstas and even Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan McSweeney are also in the mix.
His record for Australia A is less flattering, though, with 232 runs in seven matches, at an average of 23.2.

Renshaw, Labuschagne struggle; Khawaja and McSweeney cross 50
The 29-year-old Renshaw, who has played 14 Tests in nine years, recently made his ODI debut against India and has been backed by Allan Border and Greg Chappell to partner Khawaja when England come visiting.
The pair opened for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield on Thursday, looking to hunt down New South Wales's first-innings total of 429-7 at the Gabba. They put on 94 before Renshaw was bowled by Jack Edwards for an underwhelming 29. Labuschagne, in at No.3, was then dismissed by Liam Hatcher for four, leaving Queensland 100-2. Khawaja went on to score a half-century, eventually departing caught behind off Charlie Stobo for 87, having put on 63 with Jack Clayton.

At the WACA in Perth, South Australia skipper McSweeney, who was promoted to open during the 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy before being dropped, pushed his own case for selection. Having scored just 13 in the first innings against Western Australia, he returned 3-15 in 11 overs with his part-time off-spin, including the wicket of centurion Cameron Bancroft.
Coming out to bat on Thursday at No.3, McSweeney made it to 79 not out by tea in an unbroken partnership of 146 with Henry Hunt.
