Pat Cummins takes one-handed screamer

Watch: Pat Cummins took a one-handed screamer off his own bowling to dismiss Keacy Carty on day two of Australia's second Test against West Indies.

Having been bowled out for 286, Australia struck back with the early wicket of Kraigg Brathwaite – playing in his 100th Test – for a duck in the second over of the day. That brought Carty, playing his seventh Test match, to the crease with the scoreline on 7-1.

Carty was starved of the strike early in his innings, facing just four deliveries in the first five overs he spent at the crease, as John Campbell looked to attack. The opener reached 30 off 29 deliveries by the end of the eighth over, at which point Cummins brought himself into the attack for the first time.

Having conceded a single off the first ball to bring Carty on strike, Cummins sent him down a ball which moved off the pitch into the right hander. Carty looked to defend, but the ball popped up high into the air on the leg side. With no short leg fielder in place, Cummins reacted quickly to follow the ball, running over the pitch and diving low to his right with one hand outstretched. He managed to slide his hand underneath the ball before it hit the ground, sliding along the floor with it safely in his fist.

A quick check from the umpires confirmed the catch was taken cleanly, and Carty had to depart for 6 off 12. A 75 from Brandon King ensure West Indies stayed within touching distance of Australia's first innings score, and and Jayden Seales struck twice in consecutive overs at the end of the day to leave Australia at 12-2 at the close, with a lead of 45.
