USA all-rounder Milind Kumar attained a record ODI average of 67.73 after his match-winning century in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match against the UAE on Monday (November 3).
Milind Kumar, Saiteja Mukkamalla star in massive USA win over UAE
Batting first in Dubai, the USA posted 292 for 3 after a shaky start at 28 for 3. Unbeaten centuries from Milind Kumar (137* off 149) and Saiteja Mukkamalla (123* off 125) resurrected their innings. Milind struck 10 fours and three sixes, while Mukkamalla hit 11 fours and a six.
Both Milind and Mukkamalla now have three ODI centuries each alongside captain Monank Patel – the joint-most for the USA. Milind is now the quickest to get there, reaching the mark in 21 innings. Mukkamalla took 36, and Monank 48 innings.
The 264-run unbeaten stand between Milind and Mukkamalla is now the second-highest for the fourth wicket in the history of ODIs. They went past Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan’s 260-run partnership against South Africa in February, which had helped Pakistan chase down a record target of 353.
The record still belongs to Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajay Jadeja, who stitched an unbeaten 275-run stand against Zimbabwe in 1998, rescuing India from 26-3 to post a match-winning 301-3.
In reply, the UAE were bundled out for 49, courtesy of Rushil Ugarkar’s 5 for 22 – the fifth-best ODI figures by a USA bowler. The record remains with Ali Khan, who took 7 for 32 against Jersey in 2023.
The USA’s 243-run victory is now their biggest-ever win batting first, surpassing their previous record margin of 169 runs against Canada in May.
