Shan Masood and Aiden Markram posed with shared Test series trophy

South Africa have moved down a place in the ICC Test team rankings after beginning their World Test Championship title defence with a series-draw in Pakistan.

The Proteas lost the first Test by 93 runs after Noman Ali continued his incredible run of wickets at home. However, they struck back in the second, with Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj combining to take 17 out of the 20 Pakistan wickets to fall.

Despite winning the second Test in under four days, South Africa moved down a position in the World Test rankings. As a note, team rankings are separate from the World Test Championship table, and neither has any bearing on the other. South Africa went into the series in Pakistan in second place, still well off Australia at the top. As a result of the drawn series against a lower-ranked side, they've slipped below England by a single rating point, putting England up into second.

India are in a close third, with only four points separating Nos.2-4, boosted by their series win over West Indies. Australia are still out on their own up top, 12 points clear of England. New Zealand stay in no-man's land in the middle of the table, 12 points behind India and eight in front of next-placed Sri Lanka.

All other teams remain unchanged in their positions from the last update to the standings.
