Eyman Fatima became the youngest Pakistani woman to score a T20I half-century in 17 years during the second T20I against Zimbabwe.
Eyman Fatima second youngest after Bismah Maroof to score T20I fifty for Pakistan
After Ayesha Zafar’s maiden international century led Pakistan to a mammoth win in the first T20I, Fatima scored her first fifty in international cricket in the second match. She hit 79 off 43, with ten fours and four sixes, to become the second youngest Pakistan batter, at 21 years and 214 days, to score a half-century in T20I cricket since Bismah Maroof did so at 17 years and 329 days in 2009.
Pakistan batted first in the second match but didn’t enjoy their usual recent big starts, with Gull Feroza, Zafar and Iram Javed falling for single digits. Fatima added 46 runs with Muneeba Ali, who was dismissed for a 33-ball 36 to leave the side at 92-4 in the 14th over.
Fatima, who was batting at 29 off 22 when Muneeba was dismissed, then upped the ante, bringing up her fifty off 32 balls with a boundary. She remained unbeaten, finishing the innings with a six and a four in the last over to take Pakistan to 170-4. Natalia Parvez also stayed not out, having scored a 19-ball 24.
Captain Fatima Sana struck the first blow in Zimbabwe’s chase, removing opener Beloved Biza in the third over. The visitors lost five more wickets by the ninth over, going down to 51-6. Six Pakistan bowlers picked up at least a wicket each, while Nashra Sandhu bagged two, but Zimbabwe managed to play out the 20 overs to finish at 103-8.
Fatima, named player of the match, made her international debut in the three-T20I series against Ireland in 2025 and has since featured in five matches in the format, scoring 106 runs at a strike-rate of 158.20, with her numbers heavily improved following the 79*. She has also played three ODIs, but only faced a total of six deliveries across those games.
