Nottinghamshire vs Surrey: How the game has gone so far

Surrey won the toss and fielded first, restricting Nottinghamshire to 231 on the first day. Gus Atkinson took 4-41 while Matthew Fisher starred with a five-for (5-61). Surrey looked comfortable in response at 101-1 when a collapse saw them bowled out for 173, conceding a 58-run lead. Wickets were shared between Brett Hutton (2-31), Dillon Pennington (2-41), Josh Tongue (3-43) and Lyndon James (3-35).

Fisher and Daniel Worrall then rocked Nottinghamshire early in the second innings to reduce them to 53-5 and 89-6 before a strong fightback by their seamers saw them recover to 256 and set Surrey a target of 315. Fisher starred again with 6-73 to complete his maiden first-class ten-wicket haul.

Surrey's run-chase has been a thrilling one so far. Dan Lawrence struck a rapid half-century (50 off 56) from No.5, but wasn't able to kick on. At the time of writing, Gus Atkinson and Tom Lawes are fighting it out with three wickets and 46 runs left.
