Friday’s game will be Shubman Gill’s first game as captain of India, but he will largely want to use it to make sure his team are sharp and ready for Test cricket after many of them have been playing in the IPL over the last couple of months.
Karun Nair and Dhruv Jurel, who are both in the Test squad as well as the India A squad, were India’s top scorers in their two matches against England Lions, while KL Rahul scored a century to open his account on the tour in the second red-ball game. Anshul Kamboj and Khaleel Ahmed, who played alongside each other for Chennai Super Kings, were India A’s two most prominent bowlers against the Lions.
Interestingly, the only player across both squads to appear in the IPL final was Arshdeep Singh, who was on the losing side with Punjab Kings.
