Can you name the 52 men to have taken 30 or more ODI wickets for England and ace this quiz?
While England were a world-beating outfit for a while in the late 2010s, culminating in them winning the World Cup on home soil in 2019, it won’t come as a great shock to learn that they weren’t very good for really quite a long time. That’s probably why relatively few of their players have reached the upper echelons of the wicket charts. Only three have crossed 200 scalps, and only a further three have taken more than 150.
The most number of ODI wickets (269) by an Englishman belongs to a swing bowler, who, despite falling out of favour after England’s 2015 World Cup heartbreak, continues to rule the roost. He is also their highest wicket-taker (991) across formats and the most successful fast bowler in the history of the game. He called time on his international career last summer.

Only two active cricketers are in the top 10 of the list. One of them is a spinner, ranked third with 215 wickets currently, and realistically have a chance to challenge the top spot. Another is a seam-bowling all-rounder, ranked fifth with 173 wickets; though still active, he last played an ODI in the 2023 World Cup.
In total, 52 players have taken at least 30 wickets in men’s ODIs for England. You have nine minutes to guess them all. To identify the names, their total ODI wickets and career spans are provided as hints.
