West Indies batter Keacy Carty has made a huge leap up the ICC rankings following his back-to-back centuries against Ireland.
Carty hit 102 in the second match of the series in Dublin, in the same match that Matthew Forde stole the headlines by equalling AB de Villiers' record for the fastest half-century scored in a men's ODI. It was Carty's second ODI hundred, and came as part of a strong partnership with Shai Hope, staving off the top-order collapse West Indies had suffered in the first match of the series. The knock was also characterised by Carty's acceleration towards the end of his innings, bringing up his century off 105 balls as he attacked George Dockrell.
While Carty was out just four balls after reaching three figures in that innings, he capitalised on his form two days later. With both West Indies' openers out cheaply in the final match of the series, Carty made a game-defining 170 off 142 balls, as part of the side's second highest total (385-7) in the format. Sharing another strong partnership with Hope, Carty came to the crease in the first over and wasn't dismissed until the 48th. That innings shares a spot with Hope's own 170 against Ireland in 2019 at six on the list of highest scores for West Indies in men's ODIs.
Keacy Carty moves up 20 spots on ICC ODI rankings
The result of those innings' means Carty has leapt up 20 places on the ICC men's ODI batting rankings. He now occupies 16th spot, one above Paul Stirling who has also moved up one position. While there are no movers in the top 15, Rachin Ravindra has slid down two positions to allow Carty and Stirling to move up, while those below all slide down one.
Top spot is still occupied by Shubman Gill, who has a rating of 784, clear of Babar Azam's 766 in second.
