Watch: Teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi hit three boundaries in the first over of India's youth Test against England today (July 12), as the tourists made a roaring start at Beckenham.

Having won the toss and chosen to bat, the 14-year-old opened up for the third time in as many youth Tests. He made his debut for India U19's red ball side last year, smashing a 58-ball hundred in his maiden innings – the second-fastest U19 Test century in history.

On this occasion, Suryavanshi started equally as aggressively, late-cutting James Minto's first delivery for four behind square. After seeing out two dot balls, Suryavanshi found the boundary once again, this time getting a thick edge wide of the slips and down to the boundary. The last ball of the over brought a third boundary for the teenager, this one the most commanding of the lot, imperiously cutting into the off side.

Having scored 12 off the first over, Suryavanshi's fun didn't last much longer, and he was dismissed by Alex Green off the first ball of the fourth over. Dealt a short, wide delivery, Suryavanshi went after it, attempting another boundary behind square on the off side but top edging to Ralphie Albert.

After his dismissal, Suryavanshi's opening parter Ayush Mhatre went on to score a century, as India U19s raced past 200 at a rate of over five an over.

      Suryavanshi's blistering U19 record

Having scored his first red-ball century for India U19s late last year, Suryavanshi went on to make some blistering contributions in the youth ODI format. He hit 67 off 36 in his second innings in the format against Sri Lanka in December 2024, and scored 48 off 19 in the first youth ODI in England last month. He then made 86 off 31 in the third game of the series, before scoring a rapid century in the following game.

That innings saw Suryavanshi reach 100 in 52 deliveries – the fastest hundred in a youth ODI – and finish on 143 off 77 balls. He also now holds the record of being the youngest player to score a century in a youth ODI.
