Smriti Mandhana has moved closer to reclaiming the No.1 position in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, a spot she last held in 2019.

The India opener scored 264 runs in five innings during the recently concluded tri-series against Sri Lanka and South Africa, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament. It included a hundred in the final, which allowed her to claim third place in the all-time list of most ODI tons.

Her performance lifted her one place to second in the updated rankings, reducing the gap with current leader Laura Wolvaardt by just 11 rating points. Wolvaardt, who captained South Africa in the series, scored only 86 runs across her outings.

Mandhana, 28, has remained within the top 10 in the ODI batting rankings since her last stint as No.1, since 2019. She overtook Nat Sciver-Brunt, newly appointed England's all-format skipper.

In other ranking updates from the tri-series, Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu moved up two places to joint-seventh after scoring 139 runs. Jemimah Rodrigues rose five spots to 15th, while South Africa’s Chloe Tryon gained nine places to reach 18th.

Sneh Rana achieves career-best bowling ranking

In the bowling rankings, India spinner Sneh Rana climbed four spots to joint 34th following her 15 wickets at an average of 14. She was named Player of the Series in what was her comeback ODI stint, having last played 50-over cricket for India in 2023. Rana also picked up her career-best figures in the tri-series, claiming a five-for in a league game against South Africa. She now has 440 points, her career-best.

The list is headed by Sophie Ecclestone, who has 770 points. The only Indian in the top five is Deepti Sharma, who has 672 points.

Among all-rounders, Australia’s Ash Gardner remains No.1, while Deepti advanced one place to fifth after scoring 93 against South Africa. She scored a total of 146 runs in the tournament, besides picking up five wickets. Tryon and Nadine de Klerk also made progress in the all-rounder rankings, moving up to 11th and 12th, respectively.
