Biography
Lauren Bell, widely known by her nickname 'The Shard' due to her tall stature, is a premier fast-medium bowler for the England women’s national team. Born on January 2, 2001, in Swindon, she has rapidly ascended from a teenage prodigy to a spearhead of England’s bowling attack across all formats.
Lauren’s sporting journey began in football as a defender for Reading FC’s Academy, but she ultimately chose to pursue cricket. She made her senior county debut for Berkshire at just 14 years old and was the first girl to play for the Bradfield College 1st XI. Bell made her international breakthrough in 2022, debuting in all three formats against South Africa and India within a few months.
Bell's domestic career is defined by her dominance in the powerplay and her ability to execute under pressure. A star for Southern Brave, she topped the wicket charts in 2025 with 19 wickets in 9 matches in The Women's Hundred. She has represented Sydney Thunder in the WBBL and was acquired by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for 90 lakh in the 2026 Women's Premier League (WPL) auction.
